About this database

This spectral database provides conservation scientists with a collection of visible and near-infrared (350-2500 nm) reflectance spectra of modern watercolours, based on the pictorial palette of the Portuguese modernist painter Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso (1887-1918).
Several paint mock-ups were prepared and analysed by means of portable multiplex spectro-analysers equipped with opical fibres (FORS) and a double-beam double-monochromator laboratory spectrophotometer (DRS).

This work was done within the collaboration between the Department of Conservation and Restoration, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia – Universidade Nova de Lisboa and the Institute of Applied Physics “Nello Carrara” of the Italian National Research Council.
